Organizational Description | The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls (The Academy) is a residential boarding school with just over 300 students enrolled in Grades 8-12. Grade 12 students write the Independent Examination Board (IEB)National Senior Certificate (NSC) Examination. Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates. Minimum academic requirements and experience | ● Relevant degree or a professional teaching qualification. ● Proof of up to date registration with SACE ● Teacher with relevant teaching experience. Such experience must be recent and must at least have been attained over the past five years.. ● Experience in teaching Advanced Programme Mathematics (APM) for the past five years, up to Grade 12 level will be of an advantage. ● Ability to teach Junior Grades with success (a consistent average of 70%). ● An understanding of teaching Girl students. ● An understanding of teaching students with learning gaps and deficits. ● Ability and skill to identify students' deficits and bridge them. ● An understanding of the DBE and IEB assessments as well as their curriculum frameworks. ● Knowledge of curriculum design and an ability to design a mathematics curriculum. ● An ability to map a mathematics curriculum from Grade R to 12 and beyond. ● Working knowledge of the latest trends in education, particularly trends in mathematics education. ● IEB experience marking and moderation will be of an advantage. ● A passion for enquiry based, student-centred learning. ● Ability and willingness to mentor students. ● Willingness to learn how to use and implement the Neurosequential Model in Education (NME) in your teaching. |
